Why I Create Senior Portraits
Is there any better time in your life than your senior year?
Lookin back on those days, I remember feeling like everything in life was going my way. School was wrapping up – we were literally counting down the days – and the future was right on my doorstep. What a great feeling. Was it like that for you, too?
Now your child is there. Can you believe it? It’s kind of a shock, right? Weren’t they just playing Little League or taking that first dance lesson just a few months ago? This time has flown by. And now you and your son or daughter are standing at a crossroads. You want to make the most of this time and preserve this special season. I get it. I’m watching my own kids grow up and they are almost there, too. I know I don’t want to forget one single moment.
That’s what I love about Senior Photography. There’s no other time in life quite like it. Thankfully, I get the opportunity to capture that season for so many great kids and their parents. It truly is a joy for me and I think it shows up in my work.
This is probably the most important part of the process. In the planning session we will put together a plan for your session – location, style, date, time – there are a lot of things to figure out together.
Most sessions are about an hour. Some can be longer. Some shorter. It just depends on what we plan to do. I like make it fast and fun and use every bit of our location to give you many different options. You can also bring some different wardrobe options. We’ll discuss all of that in your planning session.
During your planning session we will also schedule your order session. At that time, you’ll see your images and pick out the different print products you want us to create. It’s a lot of fun and takes about 90 minutes. It can be at my co-working space or your home. Whatever works best for you.
I’m grateful to be affiliated with one of the best photo labs in the country. Because of that we have a lot of options for prints. These aren’t my images, but really, check out how many options we have. Need customized grad cards? No problem. An album of your images? Absolutely. Print boxes. Image Cubes. Accordion Books. There are so many options and they’re all printed using the best acid free inks and papers so you know they’ll stand the test of time.
